What is SFR Password?

SFR Password is a grafical login solution for your Windows Mobile device. It substitutes the standard password application of your device and shows a picture of your choice at system startup. You can only access your Windows Mobile device, if you click on certain previously defined spots on the picture in the correct order.

SFR holds a patent on this revolutionary new "Visual Key" technology for authentication and encryption.

2.	Why is SFR Password more secure than other authentication technologies?
	If you are using a 4-number PIN you have 10.000 different combinations for your password. SFR Password radically increases these combinations. If you are using a picture password on a QVGA Windows Mobile device (240x320 pixels) and use a "small input precision", then you have more than 1.000.000.000 combinations using only 4 spots in the picture for your password.

Will SFR Password run on my Windows Mobile device?

SFR Password runs on Windows Mobile devices with Windows Mobile 5 / 6 /6.1 and 6.5.
Your device must have a touchscreen to be able to install and use SFR Password. Just ask our forum or send an e-mail to our support, if you are not sure.

Unfortunately the following devices will not work:

ACER DX900

Glofiish DX900

i-mate K-Jam (Lock device manually requires AKU version higher than 2.0.0)

Fujitsu Siemens PocketLOOX N520 (* AKU Version under 2.0.0)

* Some Windows Mobile 5 still use an old security interface which is not compatible with SFR Password. Under Startmenu->Settings->System->About you can find the build number of your device in brackets (e.g. Build 14343.2.0.0). The last three digits (e.g. 2.0.0) define the AKU version. Please contact the manufacturer or vendor of your device if this number is under 2.0.0 in order to obtain an update.

4.	When installing SFR Password I get an error message, that there is already a password application installed on my Windows Mobile device? What can I do?
	SFR Password denies installation, when another password program is already installed and running. You must uninstall this application, before you can install SFR Password.

5.	Can I install SFR Password on an external memory card (e.g. SD card)?
	SFR Password can not be installed on a memory card. Security software should always be installed to RAM.

6.	Is there a maximum number of wrong inputs of passwords in SFR Password before the Windows Mobile device is locked for good?
	SFR Password allows an unlimited number of login trials.

7.	Will the SFR Password program be lost in case of a hard reset of the Windows Mobile device?
	A hard reset resets the complete memory of the Windows Mobile device. Since SFR Password is not contained in the ROM files of the hardware it will be lost in case of a hard reset.

8.	Does SFR Password support the Landscape mode and square devices?
	Yes, SFR Password has been programmed to support any orientation and screen size of Windows Mobile devices.

9.	What happens to my password if I change into the landscape mode?
	The password is still defined by the same spots in the picture.

10.	I can't remember my password. What can I do?
	If you have forgotten your password, we can't help you either. Only a hard reset will bring your device "back to life".

11.	I have purchased a license of visKey PPC some time ago. After installing the current Version of SFR Password my license key is no longer accepted.
	Since version 4.x you need a new license key for SFR Password. As a registered user you can buy the upgrade for a reduced price in our online shop at ShareIt.

12.	How can I get new program versions of SFR Password?
	As a registered user you automatically receive an e-mail, if there is a new majjor version released. You can download the latest version from our download area.

13.	May I start an ActiveSync connection when my Windows Mobile device is protected by SFR Password?
	In order to access the data on your Windows Mobile device from a desktop PC you need to unlock your device (enter your password).

14.	Which picture formats may I use with SFR Password?
	Bitmaps .BMP (uncompressed), .GIF, .JPG und .PNG are supported.

15.	May I use an animated GIF as a picture for my password?
	No, animated GIFs are not supported.

16.	Can SFR Password show pictures, which are bigger than the usual pictures in the Windows Mobile device format?
	Yes, SFR Password adjusts the picture automatically to the size of the screen.

17.	What happens if I delete the picture, which I already use as my password picture (visDoor)?
	SFR Password duplicates the picture into a safe area. This means that the original file is not necessary for the protection of your Windows Mobile device.

18.	Why do I have to open in the menu after the input of my password?
	If you want to accelerate the login process you may activate "Fast Login" in the program's options. SFR Password will then effect the login automatically with the input of the last point/symbol of your password. Keep in mind, that this option reduces the security of your password.
